Covington Writers Group
The Covington Writers Group meets on the first and third Saturdays of the month at the Great Neighborhoods offices on Martin Luther King (12th Street). The group is open to new members.
The group publishes an anthology each year of its members' short stories and poetry. The group's Anthology 2014, Anthology 2015, and Anthology 2016 are available from Amazon. To be included in the anthology, the work must be presented during one or more of the group's meetings. The group encourages, but does not require members to submit works for inclusion in the anthology.
The also group presents at least one seminar each year.
The Erlanger Writing Group
The Erlanger Writing Group meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of the month at the Erlanger Branch of the Kenton County Public Library. The group is open to new members.
The group seeks to provide a welcoming environment in which members can get constructive feedback and helpful input on the pieces they bring to the group. “I feel I get honest feedback,” group member Doug Clifton says. “It’s constructive, without tearing somebody down.”
Karen Lukes agrees. “No one is vicious. People are supportive. They find something good to say.”
The members are a diverse group. Clifton is currently working on a novel of family pain and forgiveness. In an imaginative fantasy, Lukes is reinventing a large
ly forgotten fairy tale.
Dawn Fanzen has written short stories and is now working on a novel. Another member is working on fan fiction, and still another on an essay he plans to post on his blog.

Independence Inklings meets on the first and third Mondays of the month, at 6:30 at the Durr (Independence) Branch of the Kenton County Public Library. It is open to new members.
This year the group will read and discuss Make A Scene by Jordan E. Rosenfeld. The group encourages, but does not require, group members to participate in writing exercises.
Gallatin County Writers Group
The Gallatin county writers group meets on the first and third Thursday of the month, at 7:00 p.m., at the Gallatin County Public Library in Warsaw.
The group has been meeting for about 4 years, with 5 to 8 members. attending regularly. Member Projects include children's books, adult sci-fi, political non fiction, historical fiction, memoirs and poetry. The contact person is: Daria Kelleher (email@example.com).
Group member Daria Kelleher had a children's book come out a few months ago, called The Imp Bottle for middle-grade readers (Diversion Press).
The librarian makes sure the group has coffee and arranged for a writer of ghost stories to come talk to the group at Halloween.
BLUE GRASS REGION
Berea - Madison County
The Berea Writers Circle (BereaWriters.com) meets 1:30 - 3:00 PM on the third Saturday of the month at the Berea location of the Madison County Public Library. Each meeting features a program to foster good writing.
The BWC welcomes all types of writers--novelists, poets, journalists, freelancers, short story writers, playwrights, bloggers, and any others. Whether published, self-published, or unpublished, we all look to grow and refine our craft.
As part of that process, the BWC also coordinates critique groups that meet regularly and provide feedback for writers ready to share their work.
Winchester - Clark County
The Clark County Public Library in Winchester, KY, has two writing groups. The Winchester Writers group is the older of the two groups. It meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

Eagle Creek Writers Group
Monthly critique meetings on the third Wednesdays of the month (unless otherwise noted) from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at the Eastside branch of the Lexington Public Library. The group has a very nice blog.
KaBooM Writing Collective
The KaBooM Writing Collective or Kentucky Book Mafia, is one of Kentucky's best known writers groups. Group members Mary H. Alexander, Susan Christerson Brown, Jan Isenhour, Leatha Kendrick, Gail M. Koehler, Lynn Pruett, and Pam Sexton wrote When the Bough Breaks, a collection of essays, poems and fiction published by Larkspur Press. The group is closed and may no longer be active. Lexington Fiction Writers Group
The Lexington Fiction Writers Group meets on the first and third Wednesday of the month at the Beaumont Branch of the Fayette County Public Library. Regular members include writers with all levels of ability and experience.
One member, Roberta Kirby, is the author of the Mother Loftis novels, including All My Springs.
Karen M. Leet, wrote the novel Sarah's Courage: A Kentucky Frontier Kidnapping (2014), and co-authored with her son, Joshua Leet, Civil War Lexington, Kentucky: Bluegrass Breeding Ground of Power (Civil War Series) (The History Press, 2011).
Leet, in fact, has sold hundreds of articles and stories. Currently, she has four children’s books in print (Capstone); she co-authored Civil War Lexington, Kentucky, for adult and teen readers (The History Press), and she’s working on a children’s book tentatively titled Kidnapped in Kentucke (The History Press). Her most recent childrens’ historical novel is titled Sarah’s Courage: A Kentucky Frontier Kidnapping (The History Press).
The group includes playwrights and poets as well as authors of short fiction and novels.

Green River Writers
Green River Writers prose critique group meets the second Sunday of each month at 2:30 p.m., 300 Logsdon Court, Louisville, KY (Private Residence). The poetry group meets on the first Sunday, but is currently inactive.
Louisville Romance Writers
Louisville Romance Writers meets monthly in the “Activity Room” inside the Southwest Regional Library located at 9725 Dixie Highway in Louisville. The business meeting is from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a one hour workshop or speaker session. Meetings are on the fourth Saturday of the month. In November the groups meet on the third Saturday of the month, and there are no meetings in July and December.
Visitors are welcome to attend for two meetings, after which they are required to join RWA and LRW.

Bard's Corner Writer's Group

Founded September 2002, The Bard's Corner Writer's Group is a free and open forum that serves writers of all genres and levels. The Writer's Group currently meets every first and third Monday of the month at the Hardin County Public Library in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Meetings begin at 6 p.m. and last until 8 p.m.
Meetings generally begin with a short writing exercise, which members read aloud upon completion. Members who wish to read other material during meetings have an opportunity to arrange to fill one of the available slots in advance or take a chance an opening will be available when they arrive. Meetings are also opportunities to discuss writing-related topics, exchange ideas and share markets. The meetings are free and open to the public.
The Bard's Corner Writer's Group is not a class or workshop and is not led by an instructor or teacher. Rather it is an opportunity for writers of all ages, genres and skill levels to receive and offer feedback, information and support.
Paris - Bourbon County
Paris-Bourbon County Library Adult Writers Group
The Paris-Bourbon County Library Adult Writers Group meets every Tuesday 6:00 pm – 7:45 p.m. Any adult interested in writing, regardless of genre or skill level is welcome. Each participant is encouraged to fearlessly pursue their work. Critiques are given in a positive, gentle manner. Although many of the participants are mainly interested in self-expression and writing improvement, several writers are experiencing success in getting published.

KYOWA Writers began in 1999 as a chapter of Romance Writers of America, but dropped the affiliation to become an organization for local authors in the Tri-State (Kentucky - Ohio - West Virginia). Several members are multi-published, while others are working on their first novel or short story.
Published authors include Cathie Shaffer, who writes paranormal suspense as Cammie Eicher and a variety of other fiction genres as Cat Shaffer; M.J. Wixsom, a veterinarian who has two books of short pieces about being a small animal vet in print as well as a positive coloring book for adults and a journal for a puppy's first 100 days; Jennifer Johnson, who writes women's fiction; Fonda Warnock, who writes children's books as FR Warnock and women's fiction as Lexi Hart; and Tracey Clark who writes sensual fiction. The group has also released two collections of short stories, Currents and Fresh Currents. Shaffer, Johnson, Mary Shortridge and Matt Wixsom also have short stories in several anthologies.
